Dr. Ferraro, D.C.’s chiropractic centers throughout New Jersey specialize in the following medical disciplines:

Traditional chiropractic has long been a staple of non-invasive pain relief treatment for musculoskeletal injuries the world over.  Using a variety of manual therapy techniques, chiropractors can correct mobility issues and causes of pain such as headache, back pain, neck pain, frozen shoulder, joint impingement, TMJ, carpal tunnel syndrome, fibromyalgia and many other pain disorders.

For severe back pain and neck pain from a herniated or bulging disc, spinal decompression is an effective treatment. Patients are placed in a harness that keeps them in a stable position while a computer-controlled series of stretches targets specific areas of the spine.  Depending on the location of the injury to the discs, spinal decompression can often significantly reduce pain or get rid of problems like a pinched nerve with long term relief.

When recovering from serious injury or condition like from a surgical procedure, car accident, brain-related trauma or work-related injury, physical therapy is often in order. Physical therapists are trained in rehabilitating joints to return them to normal mobility which in many cases will also reduce pain or discomfort. They also help people who have lost fine and gross motor skills.

Pain management is a specialty that requires a doctor have Board Certification in one of three disciplines to qualify as pain management specialist.  Anesthesiology, Physical rehabilitation and Psychiatry and neurology all count towards Board Certification.  Treatment techniques include non-invasive, non-drug, pain management which often revolves around manual and exercise therapies, non-invasive pharmacological treatment such as muscle relaxants and NSAIDs and invasive pain management like spinal injections.

As the name implies, sports therapy is a branch of non-invasive treatment that deals primarily with injuries associated with highly active people and overuse problems.  Typically, the joints, muscles and ligaments are the areas that require treatment as they are strained the most during exercise and sports.  Stretching, physical therapy and rest are some of the ways that sports therapy treats pain.
